If the Raiders are going to be successful this season, their offense is going to need to be highly efficient. Luckily, the Raiders have one of the most efficient and effective receivers in the league on their team in Davante Adams.
In a recent article by ESPN, they ranked the top 100 players heading into the 2023 season. Adams appeared on the list, coming in at No. 22. That ranking felt a bit low, but ESPN’s projections for Adams did not.
According to the site, they are projecting Adams to total 1,479 receiving yards on 96 receptions in 2023. While those numbers would be down slightly from last season, that would be another All-Pro caliber season for Adams. Adams is entering a transition year because he has had only two quarterbacks since graduating high school in 2011 (Derek Carr at Fresno State, Aaron Rodgers with the Packers and Carr again last season with Las Vegas). Hello, Jimmy Garoppolo, who is not especially known for deep passes, which could make it hard for Adams to replicate last season’s career-high average of 15.2 yards per catch.
There are still some questions about how Adams will perform with Garoppolo under center, but each player has been highly successful in the NFL. One way or another, they should figure it out and Adams should be able to find a way to rack up a ton of yards again this year.
Adams will turn 31 on Christmas Eve, but he has shown no signs of slowing down at all. In fact, he has improved a lot over the last three seasons, racking up 4,443 yards and 43 touchdowns. Somehow, someway, expect him to get close to 1,500 yards again this year.
