ESPN projecting offensive tackle and cornerback with Steelers top picks

At this point, the Pittsburgh Steelers should be putting the final touches on their plan for the 2023 NFL draft. This will be the first Steelers draft run by general manager Omar Khan and assistant GM Andy Weidl and we are all anxious to see how this new front office handles things.

ESPN NFL draft analyst Matt Miller shared some rumors about what he’s hearing in terms of the Steelers top positions and to no one’s surprise, offensive tackle and cornerback are the top two. Here’s what Miller had to say about what he is hearing and his projection.

What we’re hearing about the Steelers’ draft: The two positions that come up most often when talking to sources about the Steelers’ draft plans are cornerback and offensive tackle, so Brooke and I are on the same page. Porter is a fan favorite — yes, his father was drafted by the Steelers, too — but his length, aggressive style of play and ability to attack the ball also make him a great value and scheme fit for the Steelers. He could definitely be available in the middle of Round 1. And with the first pick of Day 2, I like tackle Anton Harrison (Oklahoma) to Pittsburgh.

There are really five offensive tackles in this draft, Paris Johnson Jr. Broderick Jones, Peter Skoronski, Darnell Wright and Anton Harrison in the mix for the Steelers with one of their first two picks. As for cornerback, there are six. Christian Gonzalez, Devon Witherspoon, Joey Porter Jr., Deonte Banks, Cam Smith and Kelee Ringo. If the Steelers get one from each list in after their first two picks, it would be a win for a team on the cusp on the playoffs.
