The NFL world has known for awhile now that it was only a matter of time before Aaron Rodgers joined the New York Jets. On Monday, the massive deal for the superstar quarterback finally came through, and ESPN had the absolute best reaction to it.
It’s not often we get live breaking news on television anymore. Nowadays, it often feels like Twitter is our major source for breaking news, considering how easy it is to send a tweet. For the Rodgers trade, however, NFL insider Adam Schefter not only broke the trade first on Twitter, he also broke the brains of his ESPN colleagues while he was live on air.
During a routine interview on NFL Live, Schefter cut away from answering a question to deliver the Rodgers news. When announcing the details of the trade — including the No. 13 pick in this year’s upcoming draft — ESPN’s panel of Laura Rutledge, Mina Kimes, Marcus Spears, and Dan Orlovsky all were absolutely shook by the news.
