The 2023 NBA draft will present the Los Angeles Lakers with the opportunity to add a new key contributor to their roster right away. But that key contributor may not be selected directly with either their No. 17 or No. 47 pick.
There has been speculation the Lakers may package at least one of their picks in an attempt to bring in a veteran and possibly a big name. Future Hall of Famers Chris Paul and Kyrie Irving have been the names on most fans’ minds lately as possible targets for the Purple and Gold.
ESPN’s Jonathan Givony reported another possibility is the team trading down in the draft and obtaining more than one pick in return for the No. 17 selection.

“The Lakers are also exploring trade scenarios as well, especially with teams that have multiple picks.”
The draft will commence at 8 p.m. EDT on June 22.
