We have a good idea of Georgia’s 2024 roster already, even though the Bulldogs are just beginning winter workouts. The Bulldogs signed all 28 members of its No. 1 ranked 2024 recruiting class on early national signing day, and have added six players via the transfer portal. Eligible players have also made their NFL draft decisions.
As you might expect, UGA will have one of the most talented, if the not the most talented, rosters in the country next fall.
ESPN’s Chris Low recently published his Way-Too-Early college football All-America team for 2024, which includes these five Bulldogs.
First-team: QB Carson Beck
First up is quarterback Carson Beck, who returns after leading the SEC in passing in his first season as the starter.
“It was just two years ago that Stetson Bennett was a Heisman Trophy finalist, something nobody would have foreseen at the start of the season. Now it’s Beck’s turn. He has the size (6-foot-4) and arm strength to carve apart defenses from the pocket and finished last season with the fourth-highest quarterback grade by Pro Football Focus. If Beck improves as much in 2024 as he did this past season, he’ll be right in the middle of the Heisman conversation.”
First-team: OG Tate Ratledge
Similarly to Beck, Ratledge passed up a chance at the 2024 NFL draft to return to Georgia next fall.
“Ratledge passed up the NFL draft to return to Georgia for his senior season, and the Bulldogs should again have one of the best offensive lines in the country. The 6-6, 310-pound Ratledge has made 27 starts at right guard over the past two seasons and was a second-team AP All-American in 2023, when he didn’t allow any sacks and let in just two QB hurries.”
First-team: DB Malaki Starks
Starks, a two-time All-American, will be a junior in the fall. He’s perhaps the easiest choice for the best safety in college football.
“There are a lot of important pieces to Kirby Smart’s defense at Georgia, and Starks has been one of the cornerstones each of the past two seasons. A starter since he was a freshman, Starks was a consensus first-team All-American last season. He was fourth on the Bulldogs with 52 total tackles and also had three interceptions.”
Second-team: OT Earnest Greene
Greene started at left tackle in every game as a redshirt freshman in 2023. He plays beyond his years and it’s safe to say he’ll be an early round NFL draft pick one day.
Because he’s listed behind LSU’s Will Campbell, Low didn’t share insight into Greene’s selection.
Second-team: OG Dylan Fairchild
Fairchild is often overlooked due to him splitting time at guard, but he quietly put together an impressive campaign as redshirt sophomore in 2023. Low didn’t share any insight for including Fairchild behind Ohio State’s Donovan Jackson.
