ESPN gives Raiders a 41 percent chance to land top 10 pick in 2024

In a recent article by Seth Walder of ESPN, he projected which teams will finish with a top-10 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. The Raiders appeared on that list, coming in at No. 9.

According to their model, the Raiders have a 41 percent chance to land a top-10 pick in next year’s class. But they gave them just a 3.1% chance of landing the No. 1 pick. Here is why the site believes the Raiders could have another top-10 selection in next year’s draft:

Defensive weakness and perhaps upside limitations on offense with Jimmy Garoppolo under center stand out here. The good news is that the defensive variance we’ve mentioned with other teams works both ways. We’re less sure a bad defense from last year will remain bad this year, which is helpful for the Raiders in this case.

Garoppolo doesn’t inspire a ton of confidence but has a track record, and there are reasons to like this offense. Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers form a really nice 1-2 receiving punch, and the offensive line should protect the QB reasonably well.

The success of the Raiders really depends on Jimmy Garoppolo. If he plays well, the Raiders will have a chance to sneak into the playoffs. But if he struggles at all, the Raiders could easily be looking at another top-10 selection due to the strength of their schedule.
