ESPN’s College Gameday returned for the 2023 season on Saturday, as Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard and Pat McAfee previewed the season ahead of Week Zero. Not only did the panel reveal its picks for this weekend’s games, but the analysts also predicted which tems they believe will qualify for this season’s College Football Playoff.
Last year, Desmond Howard went viral for his surprising CFP picks. But this year, the former Heisman Trophy winner went with more traditional selections. Howard has Alabama, Florida State, Michigan and Texas in the final four, with his alma mater, Michigan, defeating Alabama for the national championship.
Meanwhile, Herbstreit and McAfee ended up picking the same four teams: Alabama, Georgia, Michigan and Ohio State. While McAfee has the Crimson Tide defeating Georgia for the national championship, Herbstreit went with Alabama over Ohio State.

Longtime GameDay analyst Lee Corso did not appear on Saturday’s in-studio version of the show, so fans will have to wait and see whether he makes CFP predictions this season.
