ESPN NFL analyst Herm Edwards has always had a soft spot for the Pittsburgh Steelers. After missing the playoffs in 2022, Edwards believes the Steelers are an underrated pick to make the playoffs in 2023.
“They’re just sitting there,” Edwards said. “It’s their turn to make a run.” Edwards points to the improvement quarterback Kenny Pickett showed in the second half of last season as a reason for the Steelers to be excited about this season. Edwards also noted that the Steelers defense has some players and you know this group will have to do much of the heavy lifting this season.
The key to the Steelers playoff hopes lies in the hands of Pickett and the team’s ability to beat the Cincinnati Bengals. They have established themselves as the second-best team in the AFC and even if Pittsburgh isn’t going to win the AFC North, landing a wild card means they cannot get swept by the Bengals.
