On-the-run sex offender Paul Robson has been arrested in the Skegness area on Thursday.
It had been four days since the 56-year-old absconded from an open prison near Boston, Lincolnshire Police said.
He was found and arrested in the Skegness area at 9.27am.
Now the escaped prisoner remains in police custody.
East Area Commander Chief Superintendent Kate Anderson said: “We are pleased to report that we have arrested Paul Robson.
“We are grateful to members of the public for their help and support in sharing our appeals and we’d also like to give thanks to everyone who have called in with potential sightings of him.
“We’d also like to extend our thanks to partner agencies and our officers for working tirelessly to apprehend Robson.”
Robson escaped from HMP North Sea Camp in Boston, Lincolnshire on Sunday.
Police released new images of the prisoner while searching for him on Wednesday.
At the weekend, the inmate was reported missing from prison shortly before 7am.
Robson is serving a life sentence behind bars for attempted rape and indecent assault.
When the prisoner escaped, he was described as a “danger to women and young children”.
At the time, Detective Chief Superintendent Andy Cox said: “Robson is a dangerous sex offender and while he presents a particular danger to women and young children, I believe he can cause real harm to anyone he comes across.”
