Escape to the Chateau fans were heartbroken by the latest announcement from Dick and Angel Strawbridge.
The Channel 4 show has grown a loyal following since it first aired in back in 2016, with each series following Dick, Angel and their family as they they bring a dilapidated 45-room French chateau back to its former glory.
Chateau de la Motte Husson has played host to a number of weddings and events over the years, and viewers are eagerly awaiting the return of the new season. The couple have now confirmed that the ninth series of Escape to the Chateau will be airing soon - but it will be the last.

The announcement came as bittersweet news for fans, who are sad to see the "final chapter" of life at the chateau but excited to follow the couple's new adventures in a new spin off series airing on Channel 4 next year.
Dick and Angel said in a statement: "A very good morning to you! We are delighted to announce our 9th series of Escape to the Chateau will be airing soon on Channel 4 in the UK! It's the ‘Year of the Celebration’ and we have so much to share – weddings and parties, fun in the Walled Garden, and of course the gorgeous Arthur & Dorothy (not bias at all) going from strength to strength.
"It’s also our finale of the classic Escape to the Chateau, it’s been an adventure of a lifetime and we could never have imagined what would unfold. The good, the bad and the ugly…we have cherished every second and love that we have a visual record to show Arthur and Dorothy when they’re older.
"We are so grateful for all the love and support…and we promise to continue our adventures with you, just in a different way, as we venture outside the gates of the Chateau and explore the wonderful country we live in. Escape to the Chateau: Secret France (WT)...next year…we honestly cannot wait...Thank you Channel 4. Have a wonderful weekend."
Fans of the show rushed to comment on the announcement on Facebook as they sent their well wishes to the family for their next adventure.
