Escape to the Chateau is coming to an end - and its ninth series will be its last.
Dick Strawbridge and his wife Angel Adoree have confirmed their Channel 4 show will end after the next series. The popular programme sees them renovate their French chateau, turning it from a wreck of a building to a proper home and events venue.
However, in news that will devastate fans, the couple have announced their ninth series will air soon, but it will be the final one to grace our screens. The couple issued a statement to confirm the news, leaving fans of the show heartbroken.
In the newsletter they send to fans, the pair use the headline: "The Ninth and Final Series of Escape to the Chateau," whilst they also added they would update fans on its release date soon: "We are delighted to announce our ninth series of Escape to the Chateau will be starting soon in the UK. As soon as we have a date, you will be the first to know!"
And in a statement, the pair said they were "looking forward to the future".
"Escape to the Chateau has been our family journey; our decision to buy a Chateau with no water, electricity, heating or sewage has taken us on the adventure of a lifetime and we could never have imagined what would unfold. The good, the bad and the ugly… we have cherished every second and love that we have a visual record to show Arthur and Dorothy when they're older," they wrote.
"We're so grateful to everyone who continues to support us and we're looking forward to what the future holds. As one Chateau chapter ends, so another Chateau story begins."
Fans were devastated by the news and took to Twitter to share their disappointment.
"oooooooo it can’t be that this years #EscapetotheChateau is going to be last series, say it’s not true @dickstrawbridge," one fan penned as another added: "The 9th season of #escapetothechateau will be the last one. My heart cannot take it."
However, fans need not worry too much as the Strawbridges will be fronting a new show.
A statement from Two Rivers Media, the production company behind Escape to the Chateau, shared: "The 2022 season will be packed with more heart-warming family adventures, innovative renovations and spectacular celebrations from Dick and Angel and their children Arthur and Dorothy. But this year will also have special significance for, whilst it is not goodbye, it will be au revoir from the Chateau, because 2023 will see Dick and Angel focusing on their Secret France (wt) adventures."
