Escape From Tarkov introduces microtransactions, armor fixes, and bug improvements

Escape From Tarkov update 14.1.0 adds microtransactions for the first time.

Escape From Tarkov, the popular first-person shooter game developed by Battlestate Games, recently released a new patch, update 14.1.0. In this update, players can expect the introduction of microtransactions, as well as various fixes for armor and bug-related issues. While some players were hoping for more content in this patch, the addition of microtransactions is an interesting development.

Let's delve into the details of these microtransactions. It's important to note that the features available for purchase with real money are not new; rather, they were previously exclusive to players who purchased the Edge of Darkness edition of the game. However, this edition has been removed from the market, leaving new players without access to these perks. With the upcoming release of microtransactions, players will be able to purchase access to the practice co-op mode and extra stash storage. The microtransactions will be available for purchase from the profile page on the Tarkov website, although specific pricing details have not been revealed yet. It's worth mentioning that those who already own the Edge of Darkness edition will continue to enjoy these benefits during each wipe.

Moving on to the core changes introduced in the 14.1 patch notes, some adjustments have been made to the armor system, which was overhauled in the previous wipe. While the new system has generally been well-received, there were still some lingering issues. This update aims to address those concerns by reworking bullet penetration through armor. With the changes implemented, each layer of armor will decrease the penetration power of a bullet, and blunt damage will be rescaled based on the target. These tweaks aim to make the armor system more consistent and reliable.

Additionally, balance changes have been made to certain armors. The WARTECH TV-110 and TV-115 plate carriers can now accommodate Granit Br4 and Br5 plates, providing players with more options for their loadouts. Another quality-of-life improvement is the addition of text notifications informing players whether a plate fits their currently equipped rig. These changes aim to enhance the player experience and provide more flexibility in armor customization.

The 14.1 patch notes also address recoil adjustments for pistols, shotguns, and the SKS carbine. Unfortunately, specific values regarding these changes have not been disclosed. It remains uncertain whether these adjustments will result in a nerf or a buff to recoil for these weapons. However, players who are actively completing the challenging Setup task may hope for a favorable boost to shotguns.

Furthermore, the patch includes an extensive list of bug fixes intended to alleviate various issues encountered by players. One notable fix prevents the BTR from shooting players immediately upon leaving. While not mentioned in the official notes, it is expected that snow will also be removed from Tarkov with this patch.

Overall, the 14.1.0 update for Escape From Tarkov introduces microtransactions, armor system tweaks, balance changes, and numerous bug fixes. While players eagerly anticipate the impact of these improvements on gameplay, the addition of microtransactions offers more accessibility to desirable perks for new players who missed out on the exclusive Edge of Darkness edition. As always, Battlestate Games continues to refine the game and address community feedback to deliver an engaging and immersive experience for fans of Escape From Tarkov.
