Well, it looks like spring is on hold for the moment with this recent cold spell which isn't the ideal start to one of our favourite seasons.
With rain, sleet and even snow coupled with plummeting temperatures it can be tempting to stay indoors and just avoid our usual day trips when the weather starts to get better at this time of year.
While it may have put a halt on our beach trips, picnics and garden walks, it doesn't mean we can't still escape the city for some much-needed respite.
Turning to a recent study from Stelrad for inspiration we looked at those Scottish destinations people recommend when the weather is a little colder and wouldn't you know it, one pretty little town just over an hour from Edinburgh made their top 10.
So wrap up warm, fire up the car and head to their number one recommended spot for looking stunning in colder weather, Newburgh in Fife.

This small burgh and parish, which is situated on the south bank of the Firth of Tay, is not only picturesque for a wander with plenty of homely and welcoming cafés, pubs and restaurants but also one of the country's most exciting distilleries.
Lindores Abbey Distillery, which is built at what is thought to be the birthplace of Scotch whisky, lies close to ruins of the original abbey which date back to the late 12th century, and where the first written reference made to whisky, in the Exchequer Rolls of 1494, occurred.
Shown in the records of the Scottish Exchequer is a payment from King James IV to Friar John Cor of the Abbey for around "eight bols of malt", while evidence of whisky production has also been discovered at the ruins.
Founded just over five centuries later in 2017, the modern distillery was built to continue the Abbey's legacy of creating wonderful whisky that puts this wonderful little town on the map.
The best part is that the distillery offers not just tours, where visitors can learn all about its processes and history, but also refreshments and tastings. Not a bad way to warm up from the chilly outdoor conditions.
There is plenty else to see and do in Newburgh, from MacDuff's Cross—the remains of an ancient white sandstone monument—to the stunning waterfront that offers one-of-a-kind views of the River Tay, as well as a trip out to the ruins of Denmylne Castle, a striking 16th-century tower house.
