THE BOOK
Finally, one of London’s most beloved cooks has agreed to divulge his secrets. On 1 September, long-time Quo Vadis chef Jeremy Lee’s beautifully illustrated debut cookbook, Cooking: Simply and Well, for One or Many — a celebration of his fascination with the finest British produce with touches of childhood favourites growing up in Dundee — will hit the shelves. We can’t wait to splatter each page and bathe in his decadent pies for all of eternity.

THE RESTAURANT
This autumn, Bibendum chef Claude Bosi and Jamavar and Bombay Bustle restaurateur Samyukta Nair will fling open the doors of Socca in Mayfair. The Mediterranean bistro will offer hearty ‘home cooking’ and interiors inspired by Francine Weisweiller’s Jean Cocteau-clad Villa Santo Sospir on the Côte d’Azur. Tres bien.

THE EVENT
Bastille Day is around the corner and according to François O’Neill, founder of Maison François, the only way to celebrate is with a snail festival. On 14 July the restaurant is set to team up with neighbouring pub the Chequers Tavern for a Fête de l’Escargot, where there will be heaps of buttery, garlicky snails, a snail eating competition, brilliant wines poured from jeroboams and St James’s first-ever snail race. Our money’s on Gary.
