Erling Haaland trolled by his dad after scoring winner for Man City against Fulham

Erling Haaland was trolled by his dad after the Norwegian striker came off the bench to score a late winner for Manchester City on Saturday afternoon.

The 22-year-old had missed the past few matches through injury and was only fit enough for the bench, with the frontman having gone off against his former side Borussia Dortmund in the recent Champions League clash. Pep Guardiola's men went in front through Julian Alvarez, but the Cottagers levelled proceedings through Andreas Pereira.

Joao Cancelo was sent off before the half-time break, and the home side struggled to break down Fulham until Haaland came on to replace Alvarez up front.

Haaland kept his calm in stoppage time to dispatch his penalty to ensure Guardiola's side claimed all three points. The striker has now scored 18 goals in 12 Premier League matches, and 23 in all competitions.

His remarkable return means that the 22-year-old has already matched the goals record his father managed in the English top-flight - with Alfie playing 181 games during spells at City, Leeds United and Nottingham Forest.

Given that Haaland senior was a defensive midfielder, his goal return of 18 during his seven years playing in the Premier League is somewhat understandable. However, he couldn't resist making a joke at his own expense after his son matched his tally against Fulham.

ESPN posted a photoshopped picture of the father and son playing for City, captioned: "Erling Haaland has as many Premier League goals as his dad after just 12 games".

Alfie quote-tweeted the post and said: "About time", with a winking face and blue heart emoji.

Haaland admitted that he was nervous taking the injury-time spot-kick, but that he was delighted to score the winning goal for Guardiola's men.

"I was nervous. It was one of the most nervous moments of my life, but fantastic. A penalty in the last minute, of course I would be nervous. But it was an amazing feeling. I don't care how it went it, it is about it going in," he said.

"I love it. I have been injured for a week and it is really important to win. For me it was about coming in with some energy and try and get a goal because these three points are really important.

"It was about trying to get it and that is what we did. To win this game 10 against 11, it's amazing. I'm really proud of every single guy out there today that made it possible to get these three points.

"These points will be really important, so yeah, amazing. We have really good vibes, a good atmosphere. We enjoy together and we work hard together. I was one week out and finally I am back. It's a good feeling."

City's next fixtures see them hosting Chelsea in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday and Brentford next weekend in the Premier League before the World Cup break begins.
