Erling Haaland’s recent transfer decision could have a direct impact on Arsenal’s transfer business in the summer.
According to the Daily Mail, Manchester City have a deal in place to sign Haaland in the summer, as personal terms have been discussed with the striker expected to choose the Manchester side.
Barcelona were one of many teams interested in signing him, but due to their inability to do so, the Catalan side have turned their attentions towards Alexandre Lacazette according to French outlet Le10 Sport.
With the Gunners yet to make a decision on the forward, Barcelona’s swoop will make Edu’s transfer outlay for the summer more clear.
The Gunners will be in desperate of a new striker in the summer transfer window, as despite Lacazette’s contract concerns with his deal set to expire at the end of the season, Eddie Nketiah also looks on his way out of the club.
According to StandardSport , Crystal Palace are hopeful of signing the Englishman on a free transfer in the summer.
If he does depart from the club alongside Lacazette then Folarin Balogun would be the only remaining striker at the club.
There is still confusion amongst the fanbase whether Arsenal will offer Lacazette a contract extension as according to L’Equipe, the Gunners are willing to offer him a contract extension of up to two years, but it is unsure whether the two parties will come to an agreement.
However, the Gunners have been linked to many strikers ahead of the summer transfer window, and with the wage space they have created with the high number of sales in the January market, Arsenal can afford to sign two strikers.
Haaland’s decision to join Manchester City could be the catalyst to Arsenal’s decision because it seems Barcelona are now on the lookout for an alternative striker, with Lacazette being of interest to La Liga side.
Barcelona’s pursuit for the Frenchman could be a blessing in disguise for the Gunners because it allows Arteta to speed up the rebuilding process by completely changing the forward line compared to the previous couple of seasons.
If Arsenal decided to keep Lacazette he wouldn't be offered anything more than two years due to his age, so Arteta will soon have to part way with the player which Haaland is certainly contributing to.
