Erling Haaland reveals Jamie Vardy inspiration in high praise of Leicester City star

Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland has revealed he looks at former England international Jamie Vardy for inspiration.

The Norway international, whose tally of 23 goals in 20 games across all club competitions this season takes him to an outstanding 80 goals in 79 appearances for the German giants, is currently one of the most in-demand players in world football.

Constantly, the 21-year-old is linked with pretty much all of the leading clubs around the world, such has been the relentless consistency of his performances in one of Europe’s major leagues.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Haaland revealed that he had looked to Leicester City star Vardy for inspiration for one particular type of goal.

“I’ve been watching a lot of players, let’s take for example the run in behind the centre-back when the No 10 has the ball,” he said.

“You have maybe the best in the world at that, Jamie Vardy. I’ve been looking a lot at him on exactly this. I have always been watching a lot of football and I still do. When we play Saturday, I go home on Sunday and watch football all day.”
