Erling Haaland praises Man City teammates and makes Julian Alvarez comparison

Erling Haaland said his partnership with Julian Alvarez at Manchester City is "really important" as he heaped praise on his new teammates at the club.

City's Norwegian striker has had an exceptional start to life in Manchester. Haaland has scored 10 Premier League goals, including two hat-tricks, in just six games and already comfortably leads the race for the golden boot.

The 22-year-old has also added two Champions League goals to his tally at City, after the Blues beat Sevilla 4-0 earlier in the week. Many fans saw Haaland as the final piece to the puzzle that will see them lift the elusive European trophy, something that has evaded Pep Guardiola since his arrival at the club.

The former Borussia Dortmund striker has now opened up on plans for his partnership with fellow striker Alvarez, as well as what he thinks of joining a team full of quality players.

Haaland told Telemundo Deportes: "There’s so many good teammates at Man City, not only Kevin [De Bruyne]. He’s an amazing footballer, but you have so many others that are playing so good and you can see that on the pitch; Bernardo Silva, Riyad Mahrez - you have so many good players. It’s not only him [Kevin De Bruyne], it’s the whole Man City team. They are so good, there’s a lot of good footballers.

"Julian Alvarez is an amazing footballer, amazing talent. I have to say, he’s good, he reminds me a little bit of Sergio Aguero. You saw in the game against [Nottingham] Forest, he’s amazing, and also that we can play together. This is really important. This is something we should be able to do, to play with each other. He’s going to be a good footballer."

Haaland also opened up about his relationship with the team off the pitch, including a special bond he is already developing with one player in particular.

"A lot of nice people by the way. I have a lot of good friends already. I've only been there for two months so it's it's quite new but a lot of people in the club is nice, you know Phil [Foden] is the same age as me. We go good together. A lot of funny moments with him and yeah, it's a lot of nice people in the club."
