Erling Haaland 'not human' says Nottingham Forest star ahead of Man City clash

Morgan Gibbs-White has described Erling Haaland’s scoring record as “scary” but insists Nottingham Forest don’t fear Manchester City ahead of Saturday’s meeting between the sides.

Haaland bagged his 26th goal of the season as City replaced Arsenal at the top of the Premier League with a crucial 3-1 victory at the Emirates on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Forest, whose defensive options have been decimated by injury, will be looking to hit back following last weekend’s 2-0 loss at Fulham.

Shackling the prolific Norwegian, whose dad Alf-Inge played for the Reds, will be key to their hopes and Gibbs-White admits he has been left in awe by the striker’s maiden season in the Premier League.

“It’s scary,” the attacking midfielder told Sky Sports. “It’s not human to be doing the stuff he’s doing but when you’re in a team like City, who have 80 per cent possession every game, create all the chances, it would be a dream to be a striker in that team.

“But you have to give it to him, fair play to him, he’s taken those chances, he’s scored all the goals and he deserves all the credit he’s getting.”

However, Forest are a different side at the City Ground and sit 10th in the home league table compared to second-bottom in the away standings. Gibbs-White says that is largely down to the fervent support the team receives.

“You don’t realise how important our fans are until you come to a game,” he said. “Before the first half and they’re singing that song [Mull of Kintyre], it gives you goosebumps every time you hear it.

“I can’t imagine how frightening it must be for the opposition team. That’s why we are so good at home. We feel like we can beat everyone because the fans are behind us.”
