Erling Haaland in spiky Scotland response as stunned Norwegian fires back at Man City party accusation

Erling Haaland admits he has no clue how Norway ended up losing to Scotland - as he hit back at party boy suggestions.

It was the hangover of his dreams last Sunday as Manchester City clinched a Treble with Champions League final success, but a week on he is dumbfounded after two late goals had the Nordic side surrender a 1-0 lead and losing 2-1 in a key Euro 2024 qualifier. It leaves them eight behind the Tartan Army lead by Steve Clarke as Group A approaches the halfway stage, and they are five behind Spain in second.

Haaland was subbed in the final 15 minutes and when asked by VG whether the celebration of Manchester City's Treble affected him, his answer was blunt, as the striker admitted his shock. He said: "I felt I did my job yesterday, I don't know what you think. But at least I think I'm doing my job.

"I was tired after 65 minutes in the Champions League final as well, that's what happens in football. I don't have the answer to that (how Norway lost), I'm not the smartest man in the world to answer that.

"Of course it is heavy. All we want is to play good football and reach the championship, I have faith that we will hopefully make it.

"There are hungry boys who want to come forward and learn, I think that is important. For my personal part, I want to do what I can to make Norway successful, that's the only thing we want in the end."
