Erling Haaland scored his third hat-trick in the Premier League in the Manchester derby - equalling Cristiano Ronaldo's treble haul in the division.
The Norwegian had bagged three times against Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest before Sunday's clash at the Etihad, and was able to repeat the feat against Manchester City's local rivals as his sensational form continued.
Haaland scored twice in the first half before competing his hat-trick with a strike on 64 minutes. It means Haaland has scored as many Premier League hat-tricks as Ronaldo, despite only playing in eight English top-flight games, which underlines how he's taken to life at the Etihad Stadium.
Ronaldo's first treble came back in January 2008 against Newcastle. He notched two last term upon his return to Old Trafford, the first coming against Tottenham and his second versus Norwich. Now, though, he finds himself on the periphery of the United first team and was an unused substitute at the Etihad.
Haaland claimed he was particularly looking forward to the Manchester derby upon joining City and gave his assessment after his first experience of the fixture. He told Sky Sports : "Yeah, not bad! We scored six goals! What can I say. It's amazing. To win at home, score six goals, it's nice. You can feel it all the time. You can see the passes we give each other. We always want to go forward and to attack. It's what I love about the team. In the end, it's amazing. There is nothing more to say."
He also added when speaking to BBC Sport: "It could've been more and in the second half we should've been tighter, worked a bit harder, because it was a bit sloppy at times. We lost the second half and this is not good so we still have to work."
Haaland's successes come at a time when Ronaldo is struggling, with his future unclear. The forward has only started once in the league this term, in the 4-0 defeat at Brentford. He had appeared as a substitute in United's other top-flight games but was left on the bench for the first time at the Etihad.
Ronaldo's only goal this term has come in the Europa League as he is forced to accept a squad role under Erik ten Hag. Questions will be asked of United's performance after a lacklustre display that saw them trailing 4-0 at half-time before two late goals from Anthony Martial made the scoreline look more respectable at 6-3.
Reviewing the defeat, Christian Eriksen said: "It came very heavy. Everyone feels it was a very bad day at the office. We started on the wrong foot. They had chances straight from kick-off. We can only blame ourselves. We missed a bit of courage to play out from the back and we let them be at their strength. The main focus from this game will be on ourselves. There are a lot of things we need to change and a lot of things we need to do better. Today was far from acceptable from what we should be doing."
