Erling Haaland deals Euro 2024 hammer blow as Scotland rivals Norway up against it after major injury

Superstar striker Erling Haaland has dealt Norway a major blow after pulling out of their opening two Euro 2024 qualifiers through injury.

And Scotland's rivals for qualification will now take on Spain and Georgia without the Manchester City goal machine, who has netted an eye-popping 42 goals in 37 appearances for Pep Guardiola's side. Spain are the hot favourites to top Group A with many believing it will be between Scotland and Norway to finish best of the rest.

But now Haaland's absence puts Norway on the back foot before a ball is kicked ahead of the first round of fixtures. Steve Clarke's side kick off with a pair of home games against Cyprus and Spain in the coming week as they aim to back up their march to the tournament in 2021.
