Erling Haaland makes Liverpool point after shock Bournemouth defeat
Manchester City striker Erling Haaland says Liverpool's defeat at Bournemouth shows the difficulty of the Premier League.
The Reds' five-match unbeaten run came crashing to end after they were humbled on the south coast earlier today. Gary O'Neil's team moved off the foot of the table with a 1-0 win given to them by Philip Billing's first-half strike.
Jurgen Klopp's side went from the highest of highs after smashing rivals Manchester United six days ago but by 3pm on Saturday, they were left with a familiar feeling on the road after being handed their seventh away defeat of the season.
Tottenham Hotspur's 3-1 home victory over Nottingham Forest opened up a six-point gap to Liverpool in the race for the top four. Further up the table, City then maintained pressure on league leaders Arsenal as they won 1-0 at Crystal Palace thanks to Haaland's 78th-minute penalty.
It was the Norwegian's 28th goal in just 26 league games since his summer switch from Borussia Dortmund and after the game he apid mention to Liverpool, who last season ran Pep Guardiola's side close to the title.
"In the end, everything that matters is three points. To win games to keep performing," Haaland told Sky Sports before explaining how the Reds' defeat to Cherries shows how much of a "fight" it is in the English top flight.

Harry Kane reacts to Liverpool loss as Tottenham Hotspur Champions League chances rated
Harry Kane believes fourth place is an attainable aim for Tottenham Hotspur after their win over Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon.
Bouncing back from their midweek Champions League exit, Spurs defeated Forest 3-1 on home soil to move six points clear of Liverpool in the Premier League standings. Hours before this victory, the Reds lost to Bournemouth in disappointing circumstances and must now get back on track to make up ground on Antonio Conte's side.
As has been the case for much of the season, aside from Arsenal and Manchester City, few teams have shown strong consistency levels and this has resulted in a wide-open chase for the Champions League places.
Liverpool missed the opportunity to heap further pressure on Tottenham, who were booed by their own supporters after being knocked out of Europe. And Kane, who scored twice against Forest to make it 20 Premier League goals for the season, is of the view his team are in control of their destiny as regards their final league position.
