Erin Molan Revealed As The Host Of Elon Musk’s Upcoming News Show ’69 X Minutes’

Elon Musk speaks at the Conservative Political Action Conference and Erin Molan attends the annual Mercedes-Benz Sydney Women in Business Luncheon

In yet another bizarre entry into the 2025 bingo card (and it’s only February!), Erin Molan has been revealed as the host of Elon Musk’s newly-created news series, titled 69 X Minutes.

It comes just weeks after the billionaire asked on social media whether “anyone want[ed] to create a hard-hitting show” on X, the platform he purchased (and criminally renamed) back in 2022. Since his pockets are certainly deep enough, Musk also pledged to fund the production of the news show, which will air weekly on X and claims to “deliver hard hitting news from journalists around the world.”

One such journalist is Molan, who revealed her involvement in 69 X Minutes (yes, it’s really called that) via social media on Saturday. “Little bit of news,” Molan wrote, alongside a teaser for the show promising “real news,” “real stories,” and perhaps most bizarrely, a man with a balloon for a head. Elaborating on the new gig, Molan also shared on X that she had already shot the first episode of the news series, and that she believes it will air in Australia on Monday.

How Molan — who previously hosted the Sky News program, Erin at 5 — came to be involved in this latest Musk venture remains a mystery, but she appears to be part of the team alongside internet personality Mario Nawfal. For his part, Nawfal hosts his own social media program on X, and he described 69 X Minutes as an “unfiltered, unbiased and raw” bulletin that will offer “the next nail in legacy media.”

As for why a show called 69 X Minutes even exists in the first place, it seems Musk is taking up for his boss and certified bestie, Donald Trump. Earlier this month, the president fired off a rage post on social media in which he slammed the U.S. iteration of 60 Minutes, calling for its broadcaster, CBS, to lose its licence and accusing the show of “defraud[ing] the public.” After that, Musk echoed the sentiment in a fiery post of his own, writing on X that “60 Minutes are the biggest liars in the world” and declaring that its presenters “deserve a long prison sentence.”

Since he’s the kind of guy to challenge others to cage fights or appear at far-right events, Musk’s reaction to 60 Minutes’ supposed bias against Trump was to create a rival show, only with a far less chic and far more juvenile name. Musk hasn’t exactly been the picture of chicness in recent weeks, anyway, with his former partner, musician Grimes, calling him out for bringing their young son to the White House for a press briefing without her permission.

Yesterday, Grimes publicly pleaded with Musk to speak with her about their son’s “medical crisis,” saying she was “no longer acceptable to ignore this situation.” On top of all that, Musk was also recently called out by Azealia Banks, which anyone with an understanding of internet lore knows is a fate worse than death.
