Erik ten Hag to make late call on injured Manchester United pair ahead of West Ham clash

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed that left-back Luke Shaw and midfielder Fred are both doubts ahead of Wednesday night’s FA Cup fifth round tie at Old Trafford against West Ham United.

The game comes little over 72 hours after United recorded a 2-0 win over Newcastle United at Wembley Stadium to win the Carabao Cup final, the club’s first piece of silverware since last winning the competition six years ago.

Ahead of hosting West Ham for the second time this season, United boss Ten Hag has said that left-back Shaw and midfielder Fred are both doubts for the game, while confirming that French forward Anthony Martial will miss the game with a hip injury.

"Anthony Martial is not available," Ten Hag confirmed during his pre-match press conference. "Luke Shaw and Fred are questions for tomorrow (Wednesday)."

West Ham will be without at least three of their senior players for the trip to the north west. Goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski (fractured cheekbone and eye-socket) and right-back Vladimir Coufal (heel) were both forced off injured during Saturday’s 4-0 win over Nottingham Forest at the London Stadium.

Striker Danny Ings, who scored the first two goals in that game on his full debut for the club, will also not be involved, due to being ineligible. Moyes will also make late calls on winger Maxwel Cornet (calf) and centre-back Kurt Zouma (thigh), with both returning to training last week.

The game comes exactly five months after Cornet was forced off during his Premier League debut against Wolverhampton Wanderers with a calf issue, while Zouma has missed over a month with a thigh injury sustained on his first game back following knee surgery in November.
