Erik ten Hag is set to cast his eye over Ethan Laird in the first weeks of pre-season at Manchester United before a decision is made on his future.
The 20-year-old right-back impressed during his emergence at youth level, but has since seen his progress halted by injury and varying levels of success out on loan. Laird hit the ground running when he joined Swansea on loan last summer but saw his playing time limited after his deal was terminated early and he joined Bournemouth in January instead.
The young right-back made 21 appearances during his time in South Wales but has only made six senior appearances this calendar year as Bournemouth were promoted back to the Premier League.

It is understood Bournemouth had the opportunity to keep Laird on-loan for another season if they were promoted to the top-flight, though there is no indication that clause will be triggered after his underwhelming spell on the South Coast. The Manchester Evening News understands no firm decision has been made on Laird's future yet and that Ten Hag will have a look at him in the first weeks of pre-season.
Laird is expected to be part of the first group back at Carrington this summer when pre-season officially begins on June 27, though it is unclear whether or not he will be part of the pre-season tour squad selected the following week.
The United academy graduate could be a surprise selection in Ten Hag's squads this summer as an understudy to Diogo Dalot given the club have offered Aaron Wan-Bissaka for transfer to at least one club.
United received a recent enquiry from a Spanish club about right-back Dalot and informed them they were unprepared to negotiate for Dalot but would for Wan-Bissaka. Wan-Bissaka, 24, was informed he was not part of manager Ten Hag's plans last month, whereas Dalot is. United are also open to selling right-footed full-back Brandon Williams.
Laird has made two senior for United appearances in his career, both of which came in the Europa League.
