Erik ten Hag set to copy Ralf Rangnick trick as two Man Utd transfers 'given green light'

Erik ten Hag is attempting to copy Ralf Rangnick's approach in the transfer market with two defenders appearing to be close to the exit door.

The Dutchman has welcomed three new faces to Old Trafford since taking the reins this summer, with a number of his current squad expected to move away from the club. A couple of those aforementioned first-team stars who could be on the way out are Alex Telles and Eric Bailly.

Ten Hag made the decision to move the former on earlier this summer having secured the services of Dutch left-back Tyrell Malacia. In the meantime, central defender Bailly has also fallen down the Red Devils’ pecking order following the summer arrival of Lisandro Martinez from Ajax and could see his options extremely limited.

Spanish giants Sevilla have emerged as potential suitors for the pair and could potentially be set to seal their services somewhat soon. According to TNT Sports Brazil, Telles is close to a loan switch to the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan with a medical set to be completed.

In the meantime, various reports have suggested that the Ivorian international is set to follow his current United team to Spain. He was previously linked with a move to AS Roma to be reunited with former Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho but appears to have backtracked and will now seal a permanent switch to Sevilla instead.

Should the two moves go through as expected, then the pair will be the second and third players respectively to swap Manchester for Seville over the past six months.

Anthony Martial was of course allowed to join the Spanish side on-loan in January in a deal that ran until the end of the season.

Whilst the move did not go as successfully as many thought - the Frenchman scored just once during his six-month spell in Spain. That does not appear to have hampered his Old Trafford opportunities though.

After being handed a chance by Ten Hag during pre-season and scoring against Liverpool, Melbourne Victory and Crystal Palace, Martial could potentially be in consideration to start the Red Devils’ opening match of the season against Brighton amid the ongoing speculation regarding Cristiano Ronaldo's future.

There will be hope that Telles - or indeed Bailly - could do the same with switches to Sevilla. Whether they re-establish themselves in the first-team reckoning at Old Trafford or indeed perform well enough to garner transfer fees, either eventuality will only prove to benefit the Red Devils.

The summer exits are not anticipated to halt there though, with still over a month to run in the current window. Defenders Phil Jones, Brandon Williams and Aaron Wan-Bissaka have all been linked with transfers away so could seal moves sooner rather than later.
