Manchester United appear to be stepping up their approach for Chelsea star Mason Mount ahead of the summer transfer window. The England international is approaching the final 12-months of his contract at Stamford Bridge and with no new deal seemingly in sight, his future at the club is uncertain.
The 24-year-old has had a tough season with the Blues, not helped by a raft of injuries that have plagued him throughout the year. It could result in a bitter ending to an otherwise promising time with the west London outfit, where Mount has won the Player of the Year award twice.
"I think with Mason particularly, as an individual, I don't know what the solution is going to be because it's a club and Mason issue," interim manager Frank Lampard said on the situation surrounding Mount. "I don't know exactly where Mason is at personally. He's got a year left on his contract. I know he's held in high regard at the club and I know the club are doing what they can to make him stay."

With the uncertainty surrounding Mount, it appears as though clubs are starting to make their moves when it comes to trying to sign the midfielder. According to the Telegraph, Man United boss Erik ten Hag is personally stepping up the approach for the England international in the coming weeks.
The head coach is said to view the Cobham academy star as a huge part of his team for the future, with the desire to overhaul the midfield ranks. He won't be alone in his pursuit though as Arsenal and Liverpool are also said to be in the race to land Mount in the transfer window.
Both are looking to bolster their central ranks too as football.london understands that Declan Rice is a top priority for the Gunners. Whether they, or any other team adds Mount will remain to be seen though as the situation continues to be open for all those involved.
