Manchester United have been warned Darwin Nunez might not have the right attributes to shine at Old Trafford if they win the hotly-contested race for his £60million signature.
Speculation over the Benfica sensation continues to mount after he scored a staggering 34 goals in 41 outings for the Portuguese side last season. That return makes Nunez hot property across Europe this summer and United are understood to have the 22-year-old on their radar.
Interest in him comes as part of the much-needed rebuild under Erik ten Hag which will see the Old Trafford giants target a new centre-back, at least one midfield recruit and a versatile attacking option such as Nunez - with further signings mooted over the course of what will be a busy window for the Dutchman.

United will not have it their own way in the market, though, as bitter rivals Liverpool and Saudi-backed Newcastle have also been heavily linked with a move for the Uruguay international. However, the pursuit of Nunez comes with a clear warning, with former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger previously raising concerns over his capacity to adapt to the Premier League.
Nunez came up against Liverpool twice on their run to another Champions League showpiece. Despite scoring in both legs of their quarter-final meeting, Nunez did not receive an entirely glowing report from Wenger when the Frenchman spoke to beIN SPORTS while on punditry duties.
After Benfica were beaten 3-1 in the first leg, Wenger said: "We spoke about Nunez before the game. That's where you realise the physical power in the Premier League. What looks very quick in the Portuguese league suddenly, when he was confronted with the pace and power of Van Dijk or Konate, he couldn't cope."
