Erik ten Hag has revealed that Luke Shaw is absent from Manchester United's squad to play Nottingham Forest because he is unwell.
The Manchester Evening News revealed ahead of Wednesday night's official team news that Shaw was missing from the matchday squad, despite having started against Arsenal in the Premier League as recently as three days ago.
With Shaw absent, Tyrell Malacia has been given the nod at left-back and he has made the starting line up to play Forest alongside Lisandro Martinez, Victor Lindelof and Aaaron Wan-Bissaka in defence, with David de Gea starting in goal.

Raphael Varane has been rested, while Harry Maguire is serving a suspension after picking up a yellow in the previous round.
With the exception of the defensive changes and Casemiro returning to the side, Ten Hag has kept faith in the players who started at the Emirates on Sunday afternoon and he explained his team selection ahead of kick-off at the City Ground.
"We want to win every game, so every game we put up the best team," Ten Hag told MUTV. "We rely on him [Lindelof]. We have to use this squad, but all the players in this squad are able to play, and once their time [comes], they have to deliver.
"It's always about the team performance and I think they know what to do out of rules and principles. It's a great night, a semi-final, so we have to play our best."
Ten Hag was also asked about Shaw's absence from the squad and he said: "He is ill."
