Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has explained why he has decided to loan Wout Weghorst from Burnley for the rest of the season.
Weghorst had been at Besiktas on loan for the first half of the season following the Clarets' relegation from the Premier League. During his time in Turkey, the 30-year-old target man scored nine goals in 18 appearances.
However, it was at the World Cup where Weghorst particularly caught the eye. His two dramatic goals for the Netherlands against Argentina showcased exactly what the striker can be capable of.

United initially struggled to seal a deal for Weghorst with Besiktas unwilling to send the striker back to Burnley when the Reds became interested. But, on the eve of the Manchester derby, Ten Hag was finally able to reveal his latest recruit.
When asked after the victory over Manchester City about the Weghorst deal, Ten Hag told Viaplay: "I think Wout has surprised at every club where he has been, except at Burnley, but that was only a very short period. I have been following him for a long time, all through his career.
"I have known him since he was 16 years old and everywhere he has been he has surprised. Yes, of course he is a player I have been scouting.
"He has shown at all his club that he could add something or strengthen something. He has an incredible mentality. Even defensively he can add value to a team."
After watching from the stands at the weekend, Weghorst took part in his first training session at Carrington on Sunday. At this stage, it is not yet known when the forward will be in a position to make his debut for United.
