Erik ten Hag explains how he knew Marcus Rashford was 'back on track' at Manchester United

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has explained how he knew that Marcus Rashford was 'back on track' for the club this season.

After an underwhelming campaign under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick, Rashford was left contemplating his role and even his future at Old Trafford. However, in just six Premier League matches this season, the England international has scored already scored three goals for the club.

This form has seen him win the Premier League's player of the month award for September and his boss believes that this is a sign that Rashford is getting back to where he wants to be. Speaking to MUTV, Ten Hag explained: "I’m really happy for him.

"That tells that Marcus is back on track. He is in his middle 20s, he showed in the past in his young career already a lot.

"Last year was definitely a setback but you see, he’s back on that level and I’m really happy and I’m convinced he can score a lot more goals and that he will be a contributor for our team. But also, it’s a team performance that [allows] Marcus to do that work because they bring him the balls in their cooperation, so it’s good to see and it will be a stimulus for both, the manager and the players, [to know] that we are in a good direction so now, [we need to] keep going."

Rashford was linked with a move to PSG in the summer, however Ten Hag made it clear that the forward was not for sale. The 24-year-old's contract expires at the end of this season, but United do have the option to trigger a one-year extension should they wish to.
