Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag said Benni McCarthy has bedded in well at the club following his appointment to the first-team coaching staff at Old Trafford.
The former Blackburn Rovers striker has been with the team since the end of July and was added to Ten Hag's backroom staff to work with the strikers. In a recent interview with SuperSport, McCarthy explained exactly what he is helping with at Carrington.
"I’m part of the technical team, first-team coach obviously," he explained. "So together with the manager and the assistant manager, when they construct the training sessions, I’ll be in and around and just help where I can and then having my role with the offensive players.

"Co-ordinating movements and finishing and making sure that the guys are sharp and that they’re ready and that the goalscoring continues and that they get the right goal scoring boots on. That will be my function. So far it’s been going good. I’ve had a few opportunities to work with [Cristiano] Ronaldo and the rest of the guys upfront and working on our finishing.
"But as the time goes by and things start getting more hectic with the Premier League schedule, I think I’ll have more time and find my feet and then I’ll have my work cut out for me."
When asked ahead of United's trip to Brentford how McCarthy is settling in, the Reds' boss seemed happy with the impact the South African had made.
"Yes of course [he is getting involved]," Ten Hag explained. "Benni is relaxed and he’s straight into the team and it’s good to have him here. He has a different voice and this can be really helpful to get the right results." United take on Brentford in the late kick off on Saturday.
