Erik ten Hag could swoop for third Ajax reunion at Man Utd after agent admission

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag could be set to raid his former club Ajax for a third time with Mohammed Kudus set for an exit this summer.

Previous reports suggested that the Ghanaian could be set to leave the Dutch giants this summer after turning down a contract extension. That has been confirmed by his agent Jennifer Mendelewitsch, who has suggested a big-money move is potentially on the cards this summer.

Speaking to Dutch outlet De Telegraaf, she said: “I think it is best for both Ajax and Mohammed that he makes a transfer now. Now is the right time.

"He has ignored a proposal to extend his contract until the summer of 2026. What I can say is that after the World Cup and this season there is a lot of interest in Kudus.”

Man United are among the clubs to have been linked with a swoop for the forward should he choose to move on this summer. The 22-year-old would provide Ten Hag with a lot of options if the Red Devils seal his services.

Kudus is capable of playing centrally, as well as out on the left flank, and would be fresh off the back of a brilliant season in Amsterdam. He has scored 18 goals and notched six assists this term and also caught the eye at the World Cup.

Kudus scored two goals despite Ghana going out at the group stages in Qatar. He would provide excellent competition for the side’s attacking midfield options on Christian Eriksen and Bruno Feranndes, whilst he could compete with ex-Ajax teammate Antony for the right-wing berth.

The youngster has actually praised Man Utd boss Ten Hag for his new-found versatility. Speaking back in December, he said: “Because the club [Ajax] is known for developing talent. I talked about that with trainer Erik ten Hag.

“In his style of play, creative and attacking, I saw myself. It was exactly in line with my personal qualities and how I wanted to develop.”

Kudus could become the third Ajax player to swap the Dutch side for Man United over the past 12 months should the Red Devils pay their reported £45m demands. Ten Hag has previously turned to his former employers to sign both Antony and Lisandro Martinez for a combined fee of over £131m.

The pair have endured differing fortunes at Old Trafford so far. The Argentine defender immediately became a first-choice centre-back and was in the midst of an eye-catching campaign before his season was cruelly ended by injury.

Elsewhere, Antony has so far failed to live up to the huge fee that took him to Manchester. The Brazilian has made 43 appearances for United throughout the campaign but has just eight goals and three assists to his name in all competitions.
