Erik ten Hag could be forced to reintegrate Cristiano Ronaldo into the Manchester United squad at the behest of Joel Glazer - just weeks after the American got his own way over Anthony Martial.
Ronaldo has made it clear that he would like to quit Old Trafford this summer in the wake of the club's disastrous Premier League campaign last year. The 37-year-old is desperate to continue playing Champions League football and is willing to leave United just 12 months after returning to the club to ensure he will continue to challenge for major honours in the twilight years of his career.
Despite Ronaldo's stance, United have been reluctant to consider parting ways with the veteran striker - although reports this week have suggested that Ten Hag is now open to granting Ronaldo's wish due to concerns over morale in the camp.
However, a new report from The Manchester Evening News has claimed that Glazer is against the idea of cashing in on United's talisman - and that could lead to Ronaldo staying at Old Trafford beyond the summer transfer window despite Ten Hag's wishes.
Glazer has already been appeased by Ten Hag once this summer after the Dutchman ruled out an exit for Martial, who has long been one of the United co-owner's favourite players.
Glazer is such a fan of Martial that he once blocked Jose Mourinho from selling the former Monaco striker to raise funds for a deal for former Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic during his Old Trafford tenure.

However, Martial's stock has significantly fallen since then - and the French striker was expected to be shipped out on a permanent basis this summer after he joined Sevilla on a six-month loan in January. But after a disappointing stint in La Liga, where he failed to find the net in nine league games, Martial has made the most of a surprise opportunity to salvage his Manchester United career under Ten Hag.
The 26-year-old old plundered three goals and impressed leading the line during United's pre-season tour of Australia and Thailand, but has missed the opening two matches of the Premier League season due to a hamstring injury.
With Martial now back in full training, it is expected that Ten Hag will call upon the forward ahead of Manchester United's crunch clash with Liverpool next Monday - and he could even line up alongside Ronaldo if Glazer decides to stand firm and prevent the former Real Madrid man from quitting Old Trafford.
