Erik ten Hag contacts Man United players as Frenkie de Jong and Jurrien Timber send messages

Ten Hag reveals first contact with United players

It won’t be long now before Erik ten Hag takes his first steps through the doors at Old Trafford as United’s new manager. Having brought his time at Ajax to an end on Sunday, the 52-year-old is expected in Manchester very soon.

The Dutchman is not expected to make his way over to England this week, but he has confirmed that he has started working on his plans for next season. Ten Hag revealed in an interview that he had agreed a start date with United of May 16 (yesterday).

While he won’t meet his new players this week, Ten Hag has already made contact with at least some of the squad. The incoming United boss revealed he had been contacted by some players on WhatApp as they welcomed him to the club.

De Jong and Timber send message to Ten Hag

Ten Hag certainly made a big impression during his time at Ajax. The incoming United boss is responsible for re-establishing the Amsterdam giants as the top dogs in the Netherlands, as well as a major force in Europe.

As he bids farewell to the club, Ajax have put together a special video featuring a number of past and present stars, all of whom Ten Hag helped in getting them onto the big stage. In amongst the faces making an appearance were a couple of players who will no doubt pique the interest of United fans.

Frenkie de Jong and Jurrien Timber both sent their own messages to wish Ten Hag well in his next venture. The former is of course a target for United this summer, while the latter has been tipped to follow his former manager to Old Trafford.
