Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has revealed that he knows why Marcus Rashford is yet to sign a new contract and extend his stay at Old Trafford.
However, the Red Devils boss stopped short of revealing that information to the public as United's top goalscorer this term enters the final year of his deal as the season draws to a close. Negotiations between the player and the club are have been going back and forth for at least six months, with United offering a five-year deal and an eye-watering £300,000-per week.
And yet, Rashford is yet to put pen to paper. According to SunSport, the 25-year-old is holding fire until it becomes clear whether the potential new owners of the club would offer him something different.
Pressed for comment on why there has been no update regarding Rashford's contract situation, Ten Hag kept his cards close to his chest with his update to the media.
The Dutchman explained: "I know but I don’t talk about the process. Let the process go. Once again, this is not important at the moment for me or Rashy.
"For him, it is to get more goals this season and he is playing a wonderful season — and the team is playing a wonderful season. We have to get into the Champions League and focus on that.

"Marcus wants to stay and we want him to stay, so I think we will find each other."
It is vital from United's perspective that Rashford is tied down to a new long-term deal sooner rather than later, given the remarkable form he has shown this term.
As things stand, the England ace is sitting on a tally of 29 goals across all competitions. 18 of those have come in the Premier League and helped United to their current position of fourth in the table.
With three games still to play for Ten Hag's troops, Champions League football next season has still not yet been secured.
United sit one point ahead of Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool, but have played one game less which hands the Red Devils somewhat of an advantage at this stage of the season.
Liverpool's recent form has ramped the pressure up on United, but should they hold their nerve in their next two fixtures, they will have the much-coveted fourth spot secured.
The first of United's final three outings comes on Saturday afternoon when they make the trip to a Bournemouth side that occupy 14th in the table.
