Erik ten Hag brushes off Gary Neville's concerns over Man Utd's transfer "struggles"

Erik ten Hag has seemingly brushed off Gary Neville's "worrying" comments over the lack of summer signings from Manchester United.

With pre-season set to commence next month, United are yet to make new additions to their squad, weeks from the arrival of the Dutch boss. But that does not appear to be a concern for the 52-year-old, who is currently enjoying some time away.

Mirror Football exclusively revealed that that "United's new boss is currently on holiday but remains in constant contact with the club. He is mindful of the need to be patient while the transfer market develops this summer." Meanwhile, the lack of movement by the club is something that Neville has expressed his concern about, as he believes it is important to get business done early on.

"I know early in the window but it’s worrying that United are struggling to get business done," he said on Twitter. "The others seem set and ready yet United can’t get moving.

"ETH needs his group together asap to mould them. Bringing them in late will only make it harder for him! Fingers crossed it happens soon!"

However, the Dutch boss seems to have a different opinion about getting deals over the line quite early on, despite looking to make marquee signings by bringing in Barcelona's Frenkie De Jong and free agent Christian Eriksen. If both deals are sealed, they would be a huge statement in the 52-year-old's early tenure.

But it hasn't all been plain sailing at Old Trafford. Barca have recently rebuffed United's initial £60million offer for their player - demanding in the excess of £80m. Nonetheless, the player and his agent Ali Dursin have not discouraged United from putting forward higher bids with the Spanish side looking forced to offload players due to their financial trouble.

Meanwhile, Eriksen continues to be linked with a move to Old Trafford. The lack of Champions League football may be a stumbling block though - and the midfielder has also been linked with a return to Tottenham Hotspur.

He is not short of options either and recently admitted: "I have different offers and options, which we are considering, and then we make a decision. I would love to play Champions League football again. I know how much fun it is, but it isn't essential for me."
