Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag believes it was the right decision for Jadon Sancho to spend time away from the team after the England ace scored on his return to Premier League action on Wednesday night.
Sancho had spent time in the Netherlands working on an individual training programme with coaches recommended to him by Ten Hag. Prior to the Reds' 2-2 draw with Leeds United in midweek, the 22-year-old had not featured in the Premier League since October.
However, he returned to the set-up in recent weeks and the former Borussia Dortmund man scored the equaliser for United in midweek. The home side came back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Leeds thanks to goals from Marcus Rashford and Sancho.

The 22-year-old has made just 16 appearances for United this season, registering four goals and an assist. While it has not been the individual campaign that Sancho was hoping for, Ten Hag praised the attacker for his determination to get back in the team after missing several matches.
"He's growing. He's definitely in better place than two or three months ago," Ten Hag told Sky Sports. "When he was away from the team, I think it was the right decision from him to do it.
"He worked hard on himself and now he is back. Now he has to find himself back in the team. That has to go step-by-step, now he's coming from the bench, so I hope he can make the next steps."
It comes after Ten Hag previously suggested that the England winger was not fit enough to play, with Sancho spending three month out of the first-team picture.. He was not present on United's warm weather training trip to Cadiz in December, but returned to action in the EFL Cup semi-final second-leg win against Nottingham Forest at the start of this month.
