Director Cheatle is set to appear before Congress for hearings regarding the shooting. She has stated that the Secret Service was solely responsible for the security at the rally and that internal and external reviews are currently underway.
Reports have indicated that Trump's security detail had previously raised concerns about inadequate resources and personnel provided by the Secret Service over the past two years. The agency confirmed that some requests were denied and mentioned that alternative security measures, including support from local partners, were implemented instead.
