Austria Vienna look to have given up the chase to land Eric Martel on a permanent deal amid interest from Rangers.
The Germany Under-21 defender has reportedly been told he can leave RB Leipzig in the summer while currently on loan in Austria.
The 19-year-old has made 30 appearances for his loan side this season and the Vienna outfit had been hoping to land a permanent deal.
However, the club look to have given up the chase for Martel's signature with a number of clubs chasing a deal - including Gio van Bronckhorst 's men.
German trio Union Berlin, Cologne and Freiburg are also keen on a deal in the summer, according to reports.
Vienna sporting director Manuel Orlechtner confessed in an interview with Laola 1 that they would not land the starlet.
He said: “Eric Martel will change clubs. The signs are that we will have to say goodbye."
Reports in his Germany suggest Martel, who is represented by former Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira, is Domenico Tedesco's plans.
In the summer he will be allowed to leave either permanently or on another loan with a year left to run on his contract.
