A number of Tottenham fans picked up on how Cristian Romero celebrated Eric Dier's strike in the 4-1 demolition of Southampton on Saturday afternoon. Scoring his first Spurs goal since the final day of the 2018/19 season with a brilliant stooping header from Son Heung-min's cross, the 28-year-old wheeled off in delight and he was soon joined by his teammates.
Seeing Son and Ryan Sessegnon jump on him, Romero was quickly over to join them by the touchline. Rather than following in Son and Sessegnon's footsteps by jumping on the long-serving player, the Argentina international instead went for a different approach and gave him a slap on the head before punching him in the side.
That wasn't it from the ex-Atalanta man as he slapped Dier's head a further two times before heading back to get in position for the restart. Not exactly a rare sight when teams score a goal, Romero was quite simply showing his affection for his teammate and highlighting how happy he was that he scored.

Doing the rounds on social media after Saturday's big victory, Tottenham uploaded a video of Romero's antics to the club's Instagram account on Tuesday, with the caption 'That's how you know @cutiromero2 likes you'.
Romero did in fact comment on the post and labelled his defensive partner as a "viking". Dier himself then added the post to his Instagram Stories and showed his affection for his teammate by writing "I love you too @cutiromero".
Dier has had quite the impact on the Argentine since his move to the club last August after helping him settle into life in the capital. Speaking to The Athletic, the 24-year-old revealed how Tottenham's No.15 had helped him out.
“He was instrumental when I joined. We’ve always got on well on and off the field. The fact he speaks Spanish really helps with our on-pitch understanding as well. He was instrumental also in bringing me into the group,” said Romero.
“From the day I arrived, he was really good at introducing me to everyone and making me feel at home as well so I was grateful for that. But first and foremost, what a great season he’s having — he brings a lot to the team, loads as a player.”
Having greeted Dier with a punch and few slaps, Romero may be in for it the next time he scores a goal for Tottenham.
