Tottenham defender Eric Dier has been left out of Gareth Southgate's latest England squad for June's Euro 2024 qualifiers.
The Three Lions boss selected a 25-player group on Wednesday for the trip to Malta for the first match on Friday June 16 and then the game against North Macedonia at Old Trafford on Monday June 19. Dier has struggled for form this season in a stuttering Spurs side and acting head coach Ryan Mason has left him out of two of the last three starting line-ups with the defender injured for the one in the middle against Aston Villa.
Dier misses out on an England milestone with his absence because he would have reached his 50th cap for his country had he played against either Malta or North Macedonia. He also has three international goals having represented the nation at the World Cup and Euros before.

Harry Kane has of course been called up by Southgate and will captain England as he looks to extend his record as the nation's all-time top goalscorer. Spurs goalkeeper Fraser Forster, who was called up to the last squad as injury cover, has not made the list this time.
Brighton's Lewis Dunk and Aston Villa's Tyrone Mings have both been recalled to the squad as has Crystal Palace goalkeeper Sam Johnstone. His Palace team-mate Eberechi Eze has been handed his first call-up following his eye-catching form with the Eagles.
Here is the full England squad:
