Nicolas Kuhn was scouted by one of the Premier League's biggest spending powers during Celtic's Champions League loss to Bayern Munich on Wednesday.
Brendan Rodgers' side thought they had the lead in the first leg of their play-off encounter after Kuhn's long-range shot hit the net after less than 30 seconds.
The German winger's effort was ruled out after it was found Adam Idah was interfering with play in an offside position.
And it seems that Newcastle United's scouts will have been extremely impressed by the fast start made by the 25-year-old if the Daily Mail's report is to be believed.
They claim that the EPL giants have scouted Kuhn repeatedly this season - with the latest occasion coming on Wednesday night.

Newcastle reportedly had representatives at Celtic Park to watch the winger in action against Bayern.
It's said that Eddie Howe is keen to add a right winger to his squad in the summer.
Celtic will seek around £20m for their star man as they're under no pressure to sell him.
Having bought him for just £3m from Rapid Vienna, this would signal another hefty profit for the Hoops.
