Epic Games recently launched its unified Fab Marketplace but the digital store is having some issues that the company is now working on.
There is already a growing list of documented issues that detail solutions and updates for the various problems that the Fab Marketplace is experiencing.
Epic Games' new store was designed to replace the Unreal Engine Marketplace, Sketchfab Store, and Quixel Megascans.
Fab Marketplace Issues
The company currently acknowledges several issues that have already been addressed, such as ratings not showing up on a product's listing until it has gotten five or more ratings.
There were also some problems uploading product files that had non-Latin characters in the filename.
Another issue that some users were experiencing was seeing incorrect displays based on their language and locale. Some people were not able to remove products from My Library or even filter the Fab Marketplace's products by category, according to 80lv.
Epic Games has also launched the Fab Unreal Engine 5 integration and the UEFN integration has been brought back. However, the ability to drag and drop Fab content from My Library inside the Unreal Engine 5 and UEFN integrations is still not available.
Furthermore, some users have complained that if you claimed all Megascans, each one's listing page would correctly say "You own this item." This is even though the item has not yet appeared in your library.
Epic Games reportedly launched the unified Fab Marketplace to allow developers to sell and download assets from only one area.
The new marketplace also has a real-time 3D viewer that lets users view the assets they want to buy before purchasing them, Game World Observer said.
A Unified Store
Customers will also be able to know whether or not a product was created using generative artificial intelligence (AI) or not. This is because of the detailed description for each product being shown by the Fab Marketplace.
What's more, Fab publishers will receive all of the revenue on the sales of Fab Standard-licensed products through to the end of this year. Epic Games plans to make a cross-section of its Megascans library free to users next year.
This would be regardless of which engine or platform they are using for their projects. The pack would include more than 1,500 assets that they can use however they want.
Epic Games originally announced the Fab Marketplace at the Game Developers Conference 2023.
However, with its recent launch, many are raising concerns that the migration to the Fab Marketplace could lead to the removal of decades' worth of creations, according to Games Industry.
