A STRONG smelling fishy odour has been detected in Kincardine and several West Fife villages.
Residents had noted the smell of fish hovering over the town, which was also reported in Culross and Torryburn.
Councillor Sam Steele had been made aware of the issue and contacted the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (Sepa) to ask for guidance, posting their reply on her Facebook page.
Sepa had responded to a complaint from a resident in Torryburn, confirming that the odour had been coming from Grangemouth.
A spokesperson for the watchdog said: "Sepa have investigated this situation as received a complaint from the Torryburn area.
"The odour is a result of the unloading of fishmeal at Grangemouth docks on Monday and Tuesday.
"The material is destined for a storage shed in the docks area and also a fish food plant within the dock area.
"This activity is the responsibility of Forth Ports and any odours generated would be the responsibility of Falkirk Council."
