Tory MP Paul Bristow thrown out of Commons by Speaker after Keir Starmer attack

The Speaker of the House of Commons furiously kicked out a Tory MP from the chamber during Prime Minister's Questions.

Sir Lindsay Hoyle reportedly booted out Paul Bristow for shouting "Vote Labour" after Keir Starmer said "if anyone want to see what controlled immigration looks like..."

The Labour leader ignored him and continued: "...all they've got to do is wake up tomorrow morning, listen to the headlines and see what this government is..."

But Sir Lindsay then interrupted the Labour leader and shouted "Order" before pointing to Peterborough MP Mr Bristow and telling him: "I think you're going to be leaving.

"I'm asking you to leave now because otherwise I'll name you. I'm not having it and I've warned you before. It's the same people."

As the Opposition benches started jeering and shouting "bye", an enraged Sir Lindsay added: "And the same will happen on this side."

Mr Bristow, who was later asked about his forced exit, said: "I got a little overexcited.''

Sir Lindsay's spokeswoman said: "Following a noisy start to PMQs, the Speaker asked Paul Bristow to leave the chamber, saying he would name him if not.

"Mr Bristow left voluntarily and so no formal powers were exercised by the Speaker."

Mr Bristow can stay on the parliamentary estate for the day and loses no pay, it is understood.

It is not the first time a furious Sir Lindsay has dramatically thrown out MPs from the House of Commons at PMQs.

In July last year he made the rare decision to name and shame Alba MPs and Kenny MacAskill, who appeared to drown out Boris Johnson by shouting about Scottish independence.

His voice shaking with fury, Sir Lindsay yelled: "Out now" before ordering the Serjeant-at-Arms to escort them away from the chamber.

"Naming of a Member" is the term used to describe the disciplining of an MP for breaking the rules of the House of Commons.

The only time names are used in the Commons chamber are when the Speaker calls MPs to speak or disciplines them.

Mr Starmer used a fiery PMQs to criticise the Government for allowing "uncontrolled migration".

The Labour leader told Rishi Sunak: "The reason they are issuing so many visas is labour and skill shortages. And the reason there are shortages is the low-wage Tory economy.

"Under his Government's rules, businesses in IT, engineering, healthcare, architecture, welding can pay foreign workers 20% less than British workers for years and years on end. Does he think his policy is encouraging businesses to train people here or hire from abroad?"

The Prime Minister replied: "He talks about immigration but we know his position because it turns out that Labour would actually like to see even more people coming to the UK, increasing the numbers.

"It's not just my view, those are the words of his own frontbencher who said 'having a target is insensible and that the numbers might have to go up.'"

Mr Starmer mocked the PM for letting Suella Braverman off the hook after she was accused of seeking special treatment when she was caught speeding.

The Labour leader joked that the Home Secretary had difficulty "coping with points based systems" after being caught breaking the speed limit last year.

Mr Sunak decided not to order an ethics probe into the row as he didn't believe Mrs Braverman had broken the ministerial code by asking officials to arrange a private speed awareness course for her.

The scandal-prone Home Secretary, dubbed "Speedy Sue", has since accepted penalty points on her licence and paid the fine.
