Enormous crocodile spotted roaming streets of town after it is hit by flooding

An enormous crocodile has been spotted roaming the streets of a rural town after flooding.

Western Australia Police received reports of a croc on the loose in an isolated area in the north of the state at around 2am on Thursday.

The cranky creature put up a fight as officers tried a number of different techniques to control its movements and usher it back to its home.

The uninterested animal continued on its joyride, with officers bringing in a local volunteer wildlife worker to find a solution.

Expert Tamela from Wild Life West Inc successfully tranquillised the crocodile to put an end to its rambling.

Once the crocodile was safely asleep, the creature was transported to its river.

A spokeswoman for the police department said the wildlife expert's assistance was key in the operation, and that they wouldn't have been able to safely relocate the beast without them or it being harmed.

Tamela kept an eye on the croc as it revived itself from the sedative.

There have been several similar cases in recent months.

In August last year, a shocking video captured the moment horrified residents in India saw a huge crocodile roaming through their town's flooded streets.

Residents in the Shivpuri district of Madhya Pradesh got a fright when the 8ft reptile swam past their homes on August 14, later hiding inside one of them.

Authorities were contacted and a rescue team from the nearby Madhav National Park captured the crocodile.

Officials tied the beast up with ropes and used sticks to pin it to the ground.

A video of the terrifying scene shows the crocodile wading slowly through the water, as horrified onlookers scream and shout among themselves.

One month later, an alligator was found wandering down a quiet residential street was so large rescuers had to find a tow truck to carry the huge creature away.

The 12-foot beast was captured in Atascocita, Texas, after a horrified local saw it walking across the road.

The reptile needed to be put on the heavy-duty vehicle and handed over to animal control, officials confirmed.

Police were quickly on the scene after a man's early start for work was disturbed by the fearsome gator on Monday.

He spotted it crawling out from under a truck before alerting the authorities.

Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office quickly arrived - but needed some expert back up with concerns growing.

Another alligator left beachgoers watching on in disbelief as the 12ft beast walked through the surf.

The huge reptile was spotted on Delray Beach, Florida.

Officers with the local animal conservation body responded after a number of people contacted them after seeing the alligator.

The creature was safely caught and brought to a local farm.

Although they can tolerate salt water for a short period they much prefer freshwater.

Witness T.J. Tamaccio said: "It was crazy. I just rolled up to the beach doing my routine, and I saw the commotion. I thought it would be a little shark or something."
