Enniskillen Asda worker praised for kind gesture to woman in distress

A store employee at Asda in Enniskillen has been praised as a 'true gentleman' after stopping to help a regular customer who had got into trouble with a flat tyre on the road.

Neil McShea , a home shopping delivery driver for the supermarket, had already finished his shift when he noticed the woman in distress at the side of the road.

In a post on Asda'a Facebook page, the supermarket chain described the Co Fermanagh man as a 'knight in shining armour'.

"Home shopping driver Neil from our Enniskillen store became a knight in shining armour when he spotted a regular customer stuck at the side of the road with a puncture," the post said.

"Neil, who had just finished work, dropped his two young sons at home a short distance away before returning to assist the driver.

"He gestured to her to pull in at a safe lay-by further up the road where he realised the tyre was flat, swiftly changed it and got the car safely on the road again. "

The lady, who is a regular Asda shopper, could not believe how kind Neil was and was quick to return to the store to share her thanks and appreciation for his noble actions.

Neil, who has worked in Asda for over 10 years, said he immediately wanted to help the lady after he spotted she was in trouble.

"When I spotted the lady on the road I immediately wanted to help. I would never see anyone stuck and was just glad that I was there to lend a hand," he said.

Online trading manager Kane Howe said: "I was not surprised to hear how Neil had come to the rescue.

"He is a true gentleman who always goes over and above to help his colleagues and customers.

"It is very admirable that he stopped to help when he had the two boys with him – we are very proud of him."
