After coming so close to glory at Euro 2020, England will be determined to end their long wait for a trophy at the World Cup in Qatar.
They have struggled for form recently under Gareth Southgate but they still possess a squad packed with talent and experience.
Here’s everything you need to know about England…
Coach: Gareth Southgate. Boasts an impressive tournament record of reaching a semi-final and final, but will this be his last amid uncertainty over his future?
Captain: Harry Kane. England’s talisman, their chances could rest on the form of the Tottenham striker.
Star player: Kane. See above. If he gets injured it is hard to see where the goals will come from.
One to watch: Phil Foden. The Manchester City midfielder showed snippets of quality at Euro 2020. Is this the tournament he takes by storm?
World ranking: 5th
Odds: 8/1
Best thing about them: The squad is likeable and have reconnected with the public.
Worst thing about them: Sweet Caroline. It is a great song, but we’ve all heard it too much now surely?
Their prospects in three words: It’s coming home…. (Only kidding, semi-finals the aim).
